Over time, some of the caves all around the world have been completely discovered and have been equipped to make it easier for tourists to traverse, and people can easily visit them without the need for special tools or skills. But there is another classification of untouched, unknown or less-known caves that are only suitable for the exploratory and sporting activities of professional cavers.
Show caves have been made accessible to the public for more than 400 years, and currently about 250 million people around the world annually visit these show caves.
The extraordinary Persia land also has a variety of untouched caves, show caves, vertical, and horizontal caves with various technical types. Ali Sadr Cave in Hamedan, Quri Qal'eh Cave, Karaftu Cave, Saholan Cave, and Chama Ice Cave are some of the tourist caves in Iran that tourists and visitors can visit them without any special tools and equipment.
The opportunity to visit the interior structure of the caves, challenging cross through walkways and vestibules, climbing and descending with a rope, meditation and relaxation in the huge halls and even swimming in the lakes and rivers inside the caves are just some of the attractions in Iran’s caves that you can experience with DPL.
Caves are divided into two categories of technical and non-technical caves in terms of the style of traversing and required equipment:
Technical caves or Vertical caves are those caves that traversing them require technical training, proper equipment, and sufficient physical fitness. Entering vertical caves without considering these items can cause serious harm to cavers.
Non-technical caves (Horizontal cave) are those types of caves that traversing them do not require the technical equipment of vertical caves. Traversing these caves is not safe and people who are interested in traveling through these types of caves, must pass the basic training of caving, have sufficient information about the dangers of the caves, must have suitable clothes and etc. Exploring non-technical caves at the beginning of passing caving training courses makes people familiar with the caves’ climate and environment and is a good starting point to learn caving.
DPL international guides and professionals, with regard to protecting environment and observing international standards, are ready to accept and train international enthusiasts.
Successful and safe exploration in caves requires having proper food, appropriate clothes, suitable equipment, having the knowledge of how to use the tools accurately, and observing standards and safety principles.
Helmet, headlamp, suitable clothes for caving (base, middle and top layer), caving shoes, gloves, cave bag, Hammock, survival kit, and first aid kit are the most important tools that you should have for caving.
Liquids, barley, rice, pasta, bulgur, flour, ready-made mashed potatoes, ready meals, ready soups, canned meat, penne, lentils, beans, milk powder, tea and coffee, sugar, butter, oil, fruit compote, candy, Chocolate, dried fruit, toffee (nuts, biscuits, jams, peanut butter, salt, pepper, dried vegetables, and spices are good foods for caving.
Katale Khor Cave, which is located in Garmab village in Zanjan, is 12860 meters long and is the longest cave in Iran. This cave is also one of the most beautiful caves in Iran.
Ali Sadr Cave in Hamedan, with a length of 11440 meters, is the second longest cave in Iran. This cave has some lakes inside that is one of its amazing features.
Namakdan Cave in Qeshm Island, nicknamed as 3N, with a length of 6580 meters is the longest cave in Iran and is one of the longest salt caves in the world.
Porow Cave, known as the Everest of the world’s Caves, is the scariest and the most dangerous cave in Iran which is located in Kermanshah. In order to get to Porow Cave, first you must walk 3,000 meters in Porow Mountain, then you reach the mouth of the longest vertical cave in Iran.
