Historically, it was the hunting ground of Safavid kings and for few months it was occupied by the Russians. Due to its beautiful nature and the presence of various birds in different seasons, this island is a suitable destination for nature lovers, especially bird watching. Qeshm Island is one of the southern islands in Iran which is located in Hormozgan province. This island is the biggest island in Strait of Hormuz. Qeshm Island is bounded in the north by Bandar Abbas, in the east by Larak Island, in the south-west by Abu Musa, Greater Tunb and Lesser Tunb and in the south by Hengam Island. The island consists of many districts and villages. The people of this region speak Persian and have Bandari dialect (Qeshm language is a combination of Arabic, Persian, Bandari, Hindi and English).
