Local community

The majority of of the people of Hormuz are Muslims. The people of the island speak Persian and their dialect is a combination of Bandari and Minabi. Among the words of the Hormuzians are words from Dutch, Portuguese, English, Hindi and Arabic, which have been introduced into their language due to the presence of Portuguese, Dutch and other nationalities in the region.

Events

In this island many ceremonies are held such as Nativity reading. Nativity reading is a ceremony that begins after sunset and continues until late night. The ceremony is held at the  the birth of the Prophet (PBUH), the ascension of the Prophet, Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha.

Rainbow Valley

Rainbow Valley is the most popular destination of Hormuz island due to its colorful soils. It is ten minutes away by car from the valley of silence, where you will see a complete collection of colorful soils. This valley got unique diversity of rocks and minerals, offers you more than seventy different color spectrums. 

 

Valley of Sculptures or Valley of Statues

Here you can see the Jurassic Park of huge fossils and statues. In an erosive work, you may see an image of an eagle, a sparrow, a rooster or a dragon and have a unique interpretation of it. At the end of this valley, you will reach a precipice 40 meters above sea level and the Strait of Hormuz will be in front of you. On the island of Hormuz, with a few hundred meters walk to the shore, on a path where the silver sands attract attention, there are stones in different shapes. Each of these amazing stones is likened to an animal by the imagination of the viewer; One looks like head of a sheep, the other looks like head of a chicken and a rooster, and as many as you want, dragon-like stones can be depicted in different positions

Dr. Ahmad Nadalian Museum

An attractive museum in Hormuz that introduces you to geo-art. Dr. Ahmad Nadalian, was a major Iranian geo-artist. In this museum, you can see a rich collection of Hormuzgan women embroidering art on clothes, works of art made by women artists and so on. The permanent museum and gallery of Dr. Ahmad Nad Aliander on the island of Hormuz is the place where the works of this internationally renowned environmental artist are exhibited. 

To access the museum just ask the natives about Mola's leaning position.

In front of Mola Tekiyeh, there is a narrow alley that if you move to the east of the city, after a few minutes walk, you will reach the neighborhood where the museum is located. 


Valley of Silence

It is a valley composed of crystals and a salt dome, which is also known as the Energy Valley and the Tabarzan Salt Valley. At the bottom of the valley, a seasonal salt river with golden and orange colors is flowing and a salt dome called the turquoise goddess is one of its most important parts.The mysterious silence in this valley makes all tourists to wonder. Since rock salt releases very positive energy, after spending some time in this valley, you will definitely be in a very good mood and this is the reason that this valley is also called energy valley. Another name of this valley is Tabarzan valley (a place that you should use axes). The reason for naming it is that the salt rocks in this valley are so hard that in order to be able to take a little salt from the rocks you need to use ax!!!

One of the most colorful attractions that has been designed in Hormuz Island is the colored carpet.

Hormuz colored carpet is a combination of 18 different colors that is consisted of ten cultural symbols of this island.
