In order to reach yourself to Khash to climb Taftan, first you should go to Zahedan and from then take a private car to Khash. While climbing this mountain please take lots of water with yourself.

on your way to the top, you need to climb a ten meters high rock. In order to spend the night in the shelter you need to pay ten to fifteen thousand Tomans to the person in charge. When reaching to the top you may feel the strong smell of Sulfur.
Although Taftan is located at hot parts of Iran but it is snowing in winters there. The weather becomes really cold between September and February. During August and July its extremely hot. The word "Taftan" means somewhere that is very hot and volcanic. in fall and winter it is difficult to climb the mountain due to strong cold winds and icy heights around.
on Taftan you can find three lakes of "Daria Sar" and two rivers of "La Diz" and "Gazd". on your way to the top there both hot and cold springs. Also there are two high walls of "Grush Khan" and "shast-e-Khoda" that you can enjoy rock and trad climbing.
At the foot of Taftan there is Artemisia, Scrubland and Cushion Plant. the summit is poor regarding vegetation but at the altitude of 1800-2500 meters you can find plants.
You can climb Taftan from four routes of Western face, Eastern face (Torshab village), Northern face (Tamin village) and North-Eastern face (Sangan village). The main and the most token route is the Western route.
