Climate

The sun will be much hotter on hot days of the year like spring and summer. As we get closer to the autumn and winter seasons, as the length of the day decreases, the time comes to travel to the Varzaneh desert. From Yalda celebration to Eid Bahmangan can be considered the best time to visit Varzaneh desert. During this period, many desert tours are held and you can taste the cool nights of the desert and enjoy the desert sky.

 

Vegetation

Rich vegetation and animals due to its proximity to Gavkhoni wetland, is one of the prominent and important features of Varzaneh desert. Various plants can be seen in Varzaneh desert, some of which we will introduce in the following.

Calligonum plant: Calligonum plant is found in different cities of Iran such as Khor and Biabank, Nain, Kerman, Central Desert, Rig Jan, Damghan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Karaj and Azerbaijan and is from the genus Polygonaccae. In Arabic, these plants are known as "Batbat". The growth of this plant begins in March and continues until mid-April. This beautiful plant with small and white flowers is in its most spectacular state from April to late May.

Haloxylon: Hawthorns are shrubs of the genus Haloxylon that are heat and drought tolerant plants. These plants are very suitable for desertification due to having a very extensive root system.Stem (Stipagrostis plumose): Stem grows in calcareous and calcareous soils and is a genus of wheat. This plant, which is very useful for desertification, has a pod of sand around its roots, which makes it resistant to water shortages.

Animals

The unique nature of Varzaneh desert provides a suitable environment for the life of various beautiful and lovable animals. 

Sand fox (Vulpes rueppelli): The body of the sand fox is smaller than that of the common fox, and its long corners will catch your eye at first glance. The soles of the fox's legs have very long hair to allow it to move more easily in the sand. The sand fox is a nocturnal animal and lives in the central desert, Fars and Khuzestan provinces.

Toothbrush Foot (Jaculus): The toothbrush foot is a type of mouse with large eyes and large corners that, just like the sand fox, has hairy soles that can move easily in the sand. The toothbrush foot is a nocturnal creature; But it is less possible to see it on moonlit nights.

Long-legged buzzard: The long-legged buzzard is a type of bird of prey that sounds similar to a normal snail, except that the long-legged buzzard sounds a little quieter. This bird is a native Iranian bird that lives on a single tree or land and is considered an environmentally protected animal.Jackals, rabbits, cats, hawks, horned vipers and camel snakes are other animals that live in this desert.

The first route

Enter Isfahan first. From inside Isfahan enter the Isfahan-Varzaneh road using the signposts. Continue the route to reach Varzaneh desert.

The second route

Enter the city of Isfahan and go east of this city. From there, go to the Isfahan-Varzaneh road. Continue here for a while to see the Varzaneh desert picture. This path will be easier

Hafez traditional residence

Hafez Varzaneh traditional residence was put into operation in 2017 with the aim of developing tourism. This residence with a capacity of 32 people and 7 separate rooms and suites and full facilities including local food, free internet, separate bathroom and toilet for each room is available to tourists. The distance from Hafez traditional residence to Varzaneh desert is about 10 km (14 minutes) and to Gavkhoni wetland is about 40 km (45 minutes).

 

Traditional residence of Negar

Traditional Negar residence in Varzaneh city in the beautiful province of Isfahan, with its traditional and original Iranian architecture and layout, offers you extraordinary experiences of living in clean traditional and rural houses. This residence with a capacity of 56 people has 12 traditional rooms including 3 3-bed rooms, 3 2-bed rooms, a 5-bed room and a 16-person hall with a bedroom floor service.

 

Bumgardi Negar

Bumgardi Negar Residence is actually an old house renovated in 2016, which dates back to the Pahlavi era and its location allows you to see the Grand Mosque and the city of Varzaneh from the roof. The distance from traditional Negar residence to Varzaneh desert is about 12 km (17 minutes) and to Gavkhoni lagoon is about 40 km (45 minutes).

 

Chapaker Traditional Residence

Chapaker traditional accommodation with a capacity of 50 Iranian passengers and 25 foreign travelers has 11 rooms, including 9 double rooms and 2 triple rooms, some of which have a private bathroom and some of them have a shared bathroom and toilet. Chapakar eco-lodge dates back to the Pahlavi era in the city of Varzaneh, In the Chapakar neighborhood, near the pigeon tower of Varzaneh House, and was renovated in 1390. In the city of Varzaneh, there are many water wells, each with its own name. Chapaker's traditional residence also takes its name from one of these wells, which is located in the courtyard of this residence. This well is located next to the wall and for this reason it is called a chapakar or "well at the foot of the wall".

Spanta Eco-Resort

Spanta eco-lodge with a history of about 80 years after renovation was opened in 1397 and with a capacity of accommodation and reception of 40 tourists, including 9 rooms as a double room, 2 3-bed rooms, 3 4-bed rooms with 2 beds Single and 2 bed service, one room for four people and two rooms for 8 people with floor service, welcomes tourists. Some rooms have a private toilet and bathroom; But others do not have a private bathroom and guests have to use the Persian and French toilets and baths in the area together.

The white city of Iran

Safavid Bridge

Varzaneh historical bridge is one of the sights that you should visit while visiting Varzaneh desert. Some believe that this historic bridge dates back to the Seljuk era, while others consider it to belong to the Safavid era. However, the important point is that this bridge is still standing and is used by the residents of Varzaneh. This bridge is made of stone, brick and mortar and has 11 columns and 10 spans. This bridge can be considered as the last bridge that was built on Zayandeh River.

Sand skiing is another activity that you can have in Varzaneh desert. For this sport and entertainment you need a board from which you can rent. It does not cost much to rent and is worth a try.
